SPEECH ARTS
Wishing Well Schools places a strong emphasis on oral communication and public speaking as part of our Grades 1-8 English Language Arts program. Each year, students participate in our Speech Arts Competition, where they write, refine, and present a memorized speech to their peers, with the top students moving on the school finals. This event challenges students to develop clarity, confidence, and persuasive speaking skills, helping them become articulate communicators. Through structured coaching and feedback, they learn to craft compelling arguments, engage an audience, and master the art of expression. The competition not only strengthens their writing and presentation abilities but also builds self-assurance and leadership skills, preparing them for future academic and professional success.
MEDIA AND FILM STUDIES
At Wishing Well Schools, our Grade 1-8 program includes advanced media and film analysis, where students critically engage with various forms of media, including film, television, and digital content. We encourage students to analyze media texts through the lens of visual techniques, narrative structure, and cultural context, fostering their ability to interpret, critique, and create media content. Through hands-on projects, discussions, and in-depth analysis, students explore topics such as cinematography, sound design, editing, and storytelling. As they progress, they develop a deeper understanding of how media influences society and how to evaluate its impact. This approach not only builds critical thinking skills but also nurtures creative expression, preparing students for high-level media studies and future opportunities in the media and film industries and also to refine their analytical abilities and creative thinking skills.
