Quiet Waters Outdoor Education Retreat
Outdoor Education is an essential component to a 21st century learning environment. We are very pleased to announce our appropriation of Quiet Waters, an exclusive outdoor education retreat for Wishing Well Schools and our sister school, Fairview Glen Montessori School. Quiet Waters caters to our school vision and the highest standard of private school student learning. By appropriating our own education retreat to attend, our students are able to return to a familiar environment where they can develop socially, emotionally and cognitively. This opportunity to spend three days together with classmates and friends bi-annually is an invaluable opportunity for growth and regeneration.
Quiet Waters Outdoor Education Retreat is a safe and modern property for students to camp year-round with spacious indoor facilities located on beautiful Georgian Bay. The area surrounding Quiet Waters provides a variety of year-round activities for students that link with our curriculum studies, where students can explore while still enjoying the luxuries of home.
Located close to Mount St. Louis Moonstone, Wye Marsh, St. Marie Among the Hurons, Discovery Harbour, McCrae Lake and Trail, Treetop Trekking, Snow Valley, and a variety of paths and trails, Quiet Waters is the perfect home base for our students before heading off to a day program exploring in the outdoors. Some programs include hiking through McCrae Lake, learning about the wildlife at Wye Marsh, canoeing and kayaking with a certified canoe instructor, skiing and snowboarding, visiting the National Historic Site St. Marie Among the Hurons and learning about the Jesuit settlement in the land of the Wendat, astronomy links, and outdoor survival skills such as building a fire and snowshoeing. Children build lifelong memories in their 'home away from home' at Quiet Waters.
